A Meal Interrupted
The crowded military dining hall froze as Major General Robert Hayes loomed behind Sergeant Claire Morgan. The towering officer dwarfed the seated sergeant, yet her steady gaze refused to flinch under his fury.
He charged her with disobeying his checkpoint order to release a vehicle owned by one of his officers. She countered that the unregistered truck hid weapons and she had followed strict base security protocol.
Water and Defiance
Enraged by her calm defiance, Hayes seized her water glass and poured it slowly over her head. Soldiers stared in stunned silence as water streamed down her face while he warned that protocol would not save her career.

Claire calmly wiped her face and insisted her actions might save the entire base from disaster. Hayes laughed loudly and demanded to know exactly what threat she imagined she had stopped.
Generals Collide
The entrance doors burst open as four star General Christopher Ward strode in flanked by military police. He crossed the silent room and demanded Morgan reveal exactly where she had secured the suspect vehicle.

Hayes stepped between them calling the interruption ridiculous while Ward raised a damning photograph. The vehicle was reported destroyed overseas six years ago and Morgan produced a hidden Level Five access card.
Vanished and Framed
A terrified soldier rushed in shouting that the impounded vehicle had vanished from lot three. Ward demanded to know who drove it out as every eye locked on the breathless messenger.
The soldier swallowed hard and claimed the security camera showed Sergeant Morgan driving it away. Claire stared in disbelief because she had remained in the dining hall the entire time under watch.
